HP Reclaims Leadership in Notebook PC and Laptops
HP has reclaimed the leadership position in the worldwide notebook PC market, according to an International Data Corporation (IDC) report released Feb. 28, 2005.(1)
HP recaptured the top spot for notebooks with 15.6 percent market share.
HP's unit shipments for the notebook segment worldwide grew nearly 21 percent quarter over quarter, almost 1.4 times the industry growth rate, according to the analyst firm's fourth quarter analysis. Additionally, the company's quarter-over-quarter growth rate was more than five times its nearest competitor's.
HP delivers the broadest portfolio of innovative notebook products in the industry. To best meet customer needs, the company offers flexibility in how people and businesses can purchase notebook PCs, whether directly via HP's website, through its extensive reseller network or in retail outlets.
"HP enters what it has declared the 'Year for Mobility' by leading the market in this high-growth segment while also increasing profitability," said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager, Mobile Computing, HP. "The market has confirmed HP as the mobile vendor of choice, and these results further reinforce our place in and commitment to the notebook business."
