AMD support Microsoft Windows XP Media Center edition 2004 on AMD Athlon 64 Processors

AMD announced support for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 on AMD Athlon 64 processors based on AMD64 technology. Desktop and mobile systems based on AMD processors provide the performance users need to enjoy digital entertainment according to their taste, schedule and location. AMD64 technology enables immersive audio and video features for cinematic computing. Cinematic computing is an evolutionary journey toward a destination where mind-blowing 3-D games reach a new level of realism, and experiencing digital media is quick, effortless, and real-time.
Using AMD Athlon processor-based PCs with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004, consumers can enjoy live television, personal video recording, music, photos, videos, radio and DVDs from the Media Center PC, all accessible with a simple remote control. Customers will be able to shift television schedules, customize a music library, or select from multiple entertainment sources from the familiar simplicity of the Windows operating system.
“AMD64 technology drives improved digital entertainment experiences all the way from Hollywood to the living room, and coupled with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 provides multi-media, multi-format, anytime entertainment options for users on their home PCs,” said Rich Heye, vice president and general manager of AMD’s Microprocessor Business Unit. “Systems based on AMD Athlon 64 processors can provide the performance to power many sources of digital entertainment in the familiar Windows-based PC environment.”

AMD is collaborating with leading system builders including Shuttle and MSI to provide customers with creative PC form factors that will fit not only in the home office, but any room of the home. AMD is also working with partners including NVIDIA, ATI and Realtek to provide customers advanced multimedia feature sets for an outstanding cinematic computing experience.
