Nokia 6600 Smartphone Bluetooth Infrared and Web Browser

Designed for a multitasking, mobile workforce, the Nokia 6600 phone has started shipping. In addition to the advanced business features and sophisticated imaging functionality, the Nokia 6600 introduces a range of complimentary applications in Europe including a full web browser and the possibility to upload and order prints of your favorite pictures or print to a local printer with Bluetooth connection.

With the new phone, Nokia introduces Try&Buy concept in Europe and Africa region, allowing consumers and corporations to test a selection of new applications available in the standard sales package*. Accessible via the removable 32MB multimedia memory card included in the sales package, all the new applications can be tried three times after which consumers can opt to purchase an application they wish to continue using.

Try and buy applications

Appealing to the need of frequent travelers, the tri-band (GSM 900/1800/1900) Nokia 6600 phone offers WorldMate application for comparing the user's home time to 4 different clocks from over 1000 cities. It is possible to convert sums in 3 currencies at once and get updated rates online, get 5-day weather forecasts for over 250 cities worldwide, or locate cities on the world map included in the application. With the SlovoEd multilingual dictionary specially adapted to the Nokia 6600 phone, users can quickly check the right word in 5 European languages.

For the business user on the move, Quickword lets you read Microsoft Word(TM) documents received by Infrared or Bluetooth on the Nokia 6600's bright color display. To manage your documents and other multimedia files, ZipMan makes it possible to compress a set of files into a single file so that they take up less space when stored or sent via Bluetooth or infrared or as an email attachment. ZipMan also allows users to open and view zip files sent to the Nokia 6600 phone. Bringing mobile navigation to the Nokia 6600 phone, the Wayfinder Mobile MapGuide functions both manually and with a separately available GPS unit. It gives the phone owners a map and directions with voice instructions for a number of cities in Europe. The Pinball game on the memory card creates added fun.

To complement the sophisticated imaging functionality of the Nokia 6600 phone, VideoStudio M-style offers tools to edit video clips captured with the device: for example, customers can combine multiple clips into a single video and add separate sounds. Photographer enables enhanced images with effects such as panorama, mirror and humorous masks.

The Nokia 6600 devices in the standard sales package in Europe and Africa also allow access to CNNlive, a breaking news service with headlines, articles and photographs from around the world. The service is available for a free trial period of two weeks after which users have to subscribe on a monthly basis.

Complimentary applications

In addition to the Try and Buy applications on the memory card, the standard sales package in Europe and Africa includes three complimentary applications. With the full Opera HTML browser, now bundled for the very first time with a Series 60 phone, allows viewing web pages as on the desktop computer. Kodak Pictures application enables consumers to upload still pictures from the Nokia 6600 phone to the Kodak Pictures album on the Internet. Users can store pictures up to 5MB of storage at no cost on the online web album accessible with the Nokia 6600 or a compatible PC, from where they can conveniently order prints or share with family and friends. HP Print application enables a wide variety of content types, including photos, emails, contact lists, calendars and notes to be printed directly to a Bluetooth Basic Print Profile (BPP) enabled printer.
