| Monster entering speaker market THX Home Theater certified speakers and subwoofersMonster announced that it has begun shipping two THX certified loudspeakers as the first of a complete line of Monster Home Theater Music sound systems available to its nationwide dealer & installer network.“Monster’s entry into the crowded speaker market was prompted by the confluence of two events,” said Peter Radsliff, Monster’s Director of Product Development & Marketing. “First, the senselessness of consumers who often purchase high-cost flat screen TVs with low-cost Home-Theater-In-a-Box audio systems. And second, the emergence of multi-channel audio formats like DVD-Audio and SACD. We feel that no one is creating the right solution for these two opportunities. We believe Monster has the right expertise and channel partnerships to take advantage of the incredible experience of multi-channel audio, and to create an in-store demo that will get them to consider an audio system that is comparable to their flat screen TV.” This new line of speakers will be an element included in Monster Reference Home Theater Music Experience demonstrations — the reference quality high-resolution audio & video demos now installed at Monster dealers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Denver and Indianapolis. “Combining the Monster brand with THX Certification on speaker systems will make it easier for non-technical consumers to feel comfortable about investing in higher-quality home theater audio,” said The Head Monster, Noel Lee. “Our goal is to show consumers what they are missing and then let them choose. Our belief is that once they experience the thrill of a high-resolution audio system, they will want it in their home and that’s good for the entire industry. That’s what the ‘Monster Reference Home Theater Music Experience’ is all about.” This new Monster line includes four speakers, two subwoofers and two stands that when formed into various configurations make 23 different sound systems. The THX Certified Monster speakers share high-performance features such as prismatic cabinets to minimize internal standing waves and diffraction, Kevlar cones for neutral midrange frequencies & high power-handling capability, and a high sensitivity design (over 89 dB for most models). Certain models have free-air tweeters with neodymium magnets for better high-frequency dispersion or D’Appolito design to allow matched voicing by using the same speaker for front, center and rear channels.
